Bradley Beal outside the Olympics. USA and Australia exhibition canceled
Washington Wizards guard Bradley Bell has announced that he is still
within health and safety protocols and will not be able to play for Team
USA at the Tokyo Olympics.
Later Thursday evening, the NBA announced the cancellation of Friday's men's
show against Australia "with great caution."
Bale was placed under COVID-19 protocols on Wednesday in Las Vegas, as Team
USA was training and squabbling before games.
On top of that, forward Jerami Grant was put under protocols "out of great
caution," the NBA team said.
Reports said Team USA is now working to replace Bale on the Olympic roster.
One option might be a goalkeeper from Team Select training with the Olympic
group in Las Vegas; Candidates include Darius Garland of the Cleveland
Cavaliers, Keldon Johnson of the San Antonio Spurs, and Buddy Bey of the
Detroit Pistons.
Bale started each of Team USA's first three exhibition matches this month
and scored 17 points in the victory over Argentina on Tuesday.
The Wizards star emerges from a scoring season in which he finished second
in the NBA behind only Steve Curry with 31.3 points per game, along with 4.7
rebounds and 4.4 assists.
